Here at Durmstrang, we pride ourselves upon good fun, well-behaved members, and a highly respectable staff. If you follow the easy ground-rules set here, you will have quite an enjoyable time here. If you break the rules, however, consequences will be dire and unyeilding.
As a member of a community of writers, you are part of a team. A team of unique, intelligent individuals who deserve to be treated as much. Respect is a double-edged sword, people, and you will only receive what you give. So please, treat others only how you wish to be treated, and do not force the staff to step in. Harrassment, threats, and general rudeness will not be tolerated, and may possibly be grounds for immediate punishment. Keep this in mind.
Secondly, we the staff at Durmstrang care about all of our members, and are just as much apart of the community as you are. We will treat all members with the utmost respect, and ask that you do the same. We have the final say here, so do not argue with us. If there is a matter that is irking you, we ask that you privately address it with us, so we may deal with it in a polite, and mature manner.
Finally, the biggest respect issue on the internet nowadays is ripping and/or plagiarism. It is an unfair practice, and we the staff at Durmstrang are completely against it. Do not steal writing, images, or anything else from others without the proper credit. Plagiarism is grounds for automatic deletion from the site. Avoid it.
Please inform the Staff of any character plots, that we may keep track of them for use in character spotlights etc.. We will keep an archive of each thread, and we ask that you keep track of your own personal timeline by posting : '{Coming from "thread name"}', when entering and/or starting a thread. When leaving a thread note : '{Exit "Character name"}'.
--If a storyline is to be continued in another area, instead put : {Exit "Character Name", to follow, see "thread name and/or Area name"}
We cannot stress this enough. Play--In--Character. Dumbledore would not murder a group of children for the fun of it, and Voldemort certainly would not don his ballet shoes to perform the Nutcracker. Some Out-of-Character traits being pushed onto the character is understandable if done sparingly, but we ask that you not make a habit of it. The staff will make an effort to read all posts, and if we discover a trend to act Out of Character, you will be called out on it.
Sex scenes are NOT allowed on this board. Some members here are younger than fifteen. Also, we do not allow, nor condone rape of any manner. Threads in which any of this occurs will be deleted, and action will be taken against those involved.
We would be pleased if you could make your posts at least five sentences. This makes it easier for other members to make long and more interesting posts, and shows your RP skill. Members who make one liners will be told to modify. If not done within a week, the post will be deleted.
If you disagree with a rule here, we are sorry to say that it will not be changing on your whim. A rule may be changed, however, if done in a democratic (voting) manner.
God moding is when a character reaches above and beyond what should be acceptable on a forum like this, and/or when a player controls a character that does not belong to them. Your character will not always land their hits, and on the flipside, they will not be able to dodge all attacks. Additionally, all things can be killed in some way, shape, or form. Keep all of this in mind while RPing, for god moding grows quite annoying.
You are not to edit your application unless given permission by a mod. You may, via replies, add on to your character's history as the boards story progresses forth, for the sake of keeping a timeline. As a matter of fact, we may just make this a neccesary practice.
Not an official Rule, but a Recommendation! It is recommended that you play at least one canon before you apply with an OC. You may play up to four characters at once, until we see fit. We will PM you notifying you that you may have another character in such an event.
This is one of the more important rules. Have fun with this. This is a game, and a social community. Games are meant to be fun!
Failure to comply with a rule will result in a warning. You are allowed to warnings before suspension. If action has to be taken after suspension, you may be banned from our forum.
To prove you've read and understood these rules, please include the phrase: "Gus was a Good Dog" at the bottom of your application.
